a day in nyc.

I should rename this blog, "the complaint department" lol it seems as if its the only time i end up writing!?

As you know, there has been sit-ins going on in the MENA region and I have so much to blog about but unfortunately when im into it-all i find myself doing is reading, reading, reading, doing vidos, writing letters, and etc.. before i know it's the next day. i just havent had time to sit down and blog about my own thoughts?! sad but true....Anyway, now i can, since ill be on this bus for FOUR HOURS-heading back to D.C. from NYC... and whats going through my mind? LOTS OF SHIT.

I wish i could take the opportunity and discuss the revolution but the only thign going on my mind right now is... FUCK MY LIFE. FUCK MY LIFE FUCK MU LIFE-thankful but fml.
Ok. I had a beautiful day in NYC. The weather was great, 70 degree weather, sun shining down my face, ice cold latte.. roaming around aimlessly through NYC. no one to rush me or hold me down. Explore the city, get lost, enjoy the day, discover new coffeeshops, go to some flea markets, check out some stores, art/music shows,..lay in a park, chill out....yup that's what i always wanted to do and that opportunity came to me today after my visit to School of Visual Arts in E 21ST in NYC.

Mohammed and I woke up around 7am.. we took it slow and decided we might as well get an early start in NYC. we got dressed and grabbed grabbed coffee in a nearby coffee shop (excellent coffee-they roast in house too!). We hopped on the train and headed to the city. 45 minutes later, we were in Penn station. It was a beautiful day we had nothing ahead of us so we decided to walk to Union square. On our way there, Mohammed wanted to show me a cool sculpture, so we stopped by Madison Square park in the flatiron district. Cool is an understatement. This was a 44 feet sculpture thatw as made by Jaume Plensa, a world-renowned artist.

"The sculpture, which was installed by cranes, depicts the face of a restaurant owner's 9-year-old daughter. The work was heavily influenced by the mythical Greek nymph Echo, for which it is named. The artist’s website states that the dream-like monolith “aims to introduce a quietness to the park, allowing viewers a moment of serenity and reflection in the heart of the city that never sleeps."

Ill upload some pictures soon. We then headed to union square and a couple of blocks later, we found the office. Afterall that, it turns out i had to make an appt and so I did for 12:30 but unfortunately mohammed had to go so we chilled for a bit-we went to the market nearby, he grabbed a brownie i grabbed a water (how boring) and we hung out in the park. Actually i also bought a cool vintage pin "Give peace a chance" and i pinned it onto my camera <3

two hours later, It was time to head to the SVA-film building and thats when mohammed left. I had a tour of the school by a student and then Nikki, the operations coordinator took on the rest. We chatted about "me" and then about the "program" she asked me why i was interested what i wanted from this and You know i should have been prepared but i wasn't and of course i was super anxious i couldn't speak.. couldn't ask.. and I dunno i just seemed to be all over the place..I sat down with Nikki and told her that Im really interested bc i want to go into advocacy by creating stories and this program really focuses on storytelling and this is what i want..My body was achy my blood was rushing down my body.. Why do i get so anxious? I need to fix this.
