NATO countries take over Libya no-fly zone

NATO will NOT be saving lives, it will just do exactly what the U.S. would have done.. it's so obvious why are they acting like they dont want to control the conflict ? .. it's just a game so now by NATO being involved this is going to be one heck of a game.. and besides weren't there stores that Israel sent Gaddafi 50,000 mercenaries? - don't know how valid that is but anyway now that NATO is joining in on the civilian side, ensuring Libyans will be safe- is all a tactic to drive them into so much debt and then take control just like what they always do.. it ain't going to defend libyans it's going to defend its resources for its sake!

Obama, NATO, United Nations, Libya --Who's on First?

Today's most impt update on Libya would be  NATO's agreement in taking the lead on Libya.. this means the main two oppositions ( France &; Turkey) have now agreed. How'd that happen ?

"France has opposed handing control to NATO because of Arab skepticism about the alliance, which is perceived as being dominated by the US..... While Turkey has refused to support both U.S. and nato intervention for fear that it turns into an occuption."

Turkish Prime Minister, Erdogan says "NATO should only enter Libya to determine that Libya belongs to Libyans and not to distribute its natural resources and richness to others," Erdogan said during a visit to Saudi Arabia."

so what's going to happen now?.. Whose really in control?.. read to find out more : Obama, NATO, United Nations, Libya --Who's on First?

The controversy over Libya

Mr. Zakaria's at it again, writing so beautifully and articulately for Time Magazine, this time discussing the situation in Libya. It's been a very controversial subject. People worldwide are split in the middle on their belief of the US mission/role in Libya. Should or should they not be there bombing to "help libyans"? You see, the road to freedom in which often is identified and defined by America, has been paid for with many lives who were not Americans. So, are they really aiding? humanitarian assistance or strategic interest?

Mr. Zakaria writes "But more than anything else, what appears to have infuriated many American politicians is Obama's unwillingness to put the U.S. in the driver's seat."
The U.S. has undoubtedly done a  great job in announcing the need to support the libyans. They have done a tremendous job but it's time they back off and leave it for the other nations to take the lead now. I applaud them for not waiting to announce the genocide taking place in Libya and doing what it can to support the libyans but it's time they transfer the leadership over to arab nations , its time they step up their game.  And let's remind ourselves, with a track record like the U.S, it would be difficult to believe a positive outcome in Libya,   is the only smart move the U.S. could do. A local professor expresses his thoughts on Yemen
"Chaos is possible. I cannot deny it. But it is not inevitable. It is also quite possible that Saleh’s departure would result in substantial improvement. Let’s look at a few key issues in Yemen:
"A democratic Yemeni government may actually be in a better position to crack down on it (AL Qaeda) than Saleh, who has been increasingly preoccupied by the rise of other internal opponents.

I, for one, believe that the Yemeni situation is more likely to improve if Saleh leaves office now. While Yemen has been afflicted with many conflicts, it also has a strong tradition of successful internal conflict resolution - as occurred at the end of the 1962-70 North Yemeni civil war and the elaborate agreements on unification between North and South that resulted in unification in 1990 (and which Saleh subsequently reneged on)." more on yemen by Mark N. an exerpt from a blogger "Muhamad Ali al Muhamadi is a 38 year mechanic. He did not belong to a political party and he did not own a television. He had six children and worked illegally Saudi garages. He saw the demonstration while walking to work. “I joined because I am against the regime. I faced difficulties from sheikhs and others and these problems destroyed my family. They even shot at my children while I was working in Saudi Arabia. I went to the justice institutions and despite all the confessions and proof they increased injustice, in addition to what we suffer economically. From this I concluded that the Yemeni government uses the law to serve the strong and doesn’t serve the poor class and labor class and as one of the Yemeni people that is persecuted its my right to express my feelings and defend our rights and our freedom and our honor."

France goes to war and ofcourse i am shaken by this because nothing the french  have ever done had a humanitarian reason. So what if my sister's hubby is french.. i'm sure he'd agree with me   They Always  have a self benefiting motive just like the U.S. . How many will die so he can win the 2012 elections? He lost control of Tunis, therefore Libya had to make up for it.
im just waiting for him to criticize and voice his "outrage" or called for "humanitarian intervention" or a no-fly zone over in Bahrain or Yemen?

U.N. & U.S. out of lIBYA!

Gaddafi has got to go but why are we witnessing UN/US bombing? why aren't the other international nations taking the lead in assisting Libya ?  i supported u.s.pressure &aid not a takeover/bombing. the U.N. is just as much losing its legitimacy as the U.S. but atleast we know with the U.S. they are  just playing it's typical disgusting role.. humanitarian intervention is B.S. Why aren't they doing this for the people in Gaza,Uganda, &Ivory Cost?  better yet why isn't this card being used for Yemen and Bahrain?

With unrest in both countries, why haven't we found a consistant reaction from the U.S. ?  where's the "human right violation"  card here? well yemen and bahrain are both strategic and allies while Libya is labeled as an enemy of the state for not being a puppet and they are the ones with oil.. so the card would def be used on Libya and  ignored for Yemen and Bahrain. .

The Huthi movement in revolutionary Yemen

James King is a guest blogger on YEMENPEACEPROJECT.COM  and writes on the huthi movement and on the uprisings  Yemen.. some excertp found below:
"The days of President Ali Abdullah Salih are likely numbered. We’re still miles from that point, but it appears increasingly doubtful that he can survive the end of his term in September 2013, despite his insistence otherwise. More and more, the question is one of how rather thanif."
Will he step down at the year’s end to allow for presidential elections, as called for by the JMP? If the protests continue to escalate, will he attempt to mount a Gaddafi-esque megalomaniacal crack-down, likely forcing civil war(s)? Or will the protest movement coalesce around even bolder demands, not merely Salih’s departure, but the fundamental transformation of Yemen’s political order?
As analysts debate how a post-Salih Yemen might look, we must remember the regime already faces three existing conflicts
  •  AQAP: seeks to overthrow the republican system;
  •  al-hirak coalition, members’ ambitions range from greater Southern autonomy to secession
  • Huthi movement, a family of prominent Zaydi sayyids and their tribal allies that have spearheaded armed confrontation with the state in Yemen’s northernmost provinces.

Perhaps the most pertinent question on Yemen’s future is whether these groups will play (or be allowed to play) a role in any new government. And does this represent a unique opportunity to resolve conflicts by drawing them into a more inclusive state?
For the Huthis in particular, I am convinced that if given the opportunity, they would participate in any pluralistic state that respects Zaydis’ communal rights, whether led by a transitional government or in the context of a new constitutional order.
Despite a concerted propaganda campaign from the Yemeni state that labels them as foreign-funded and inspired (Iran, Hizbollah, even Libya) or separatists seeking to re-establish the Zaydi Imamate, the Huthis and their allies have not declared independence or overthrowing the Republic of Yemen as their ultimate goal.

Freedom grew within us

Revolution until victory

The two months of nationwide demonstrations in yemen  continues to grow,  over 80  killed and some 350 were wounded in the capital of Sanaa.  In recent years, the United States has provided hundreds of millions of dollars in military and security aid to Yemen.

“The Obama administration has really escalated the covert war inside of Yemen and has dramatically increased the funding to Yemen’s military, particularly its elite counterterrorism unit, which is trained by U.S. Special Operations Forces," says Democracy Now! correspondent and independent journalist Jeremy Scahill. "It could get much worse if Ali Abdullah Saleh decides to unleash the U.S.-trained counterterrorist units on his own population."

Latest food trend.

so Here's our latest on our food trend... I am so happy I got introduced to Quinia! when i first saw i mistakened it for couscous. What it is is a fluffy grain that comes from the Incas. it's an awesome substitute to rice. Being vegatarian and Gluten free i find myself resorting to rice a lot and I really don't want that esp bc rice isn't the healthiest and i like to eat well. Quinia is a fluffy grain that is really high in protein and low in carbs. best of all it's GLUTEN FREEE. tHE FIRST tiem i made it at home was This past Thanksgiving Nov 2010. it's been around for forever, but it was only when i was in Egypt that i became introduced from foreigners living in egypt. What's so cool about it too is that you can make so much out of this grain, i have got all these recipes that call for quinoa in your breakfast lunch and dinner meal.. from muffins to pancakes, to quinoa as a salad entree and as a rice substitute.

I learned from my Aunt a delicious recipe and today I finally made it. i promise you that this is sure to become everyones favorite and especially if your like me and gluten intolerant you better believe that this is your new best friend! I cooked Quinoa with the recipe she gave me: sauteed some onions for 5 min, added carrots and cooked it for 3 minutes then poured in my quinoa and vegi broth and cooked for another 15 minutes. I also added in some garlic but I am not sure if the recipe calls for it. After cooking it on medium low for fifteen minutes i poured it in the serving bowl and mixed in parsley and walnuts. It was so tasty that we housed it all! I also made sweet potatoes, sprinkled a little olive oil, garlic, oregano, and paprika. I actually purposely didn't eat much quinia bc i wanted to devour all the sweet potatoes. It was delicious. Here's a cool article i came across today about my best friend, Quinoa.
